Instinctive response: "speak for yourself". I read every day. Not always heavy non fiction, sometimes light fiction or old favourites if I need comfort. But yes, every day. And I know a whole lot of other people who read, and who recommend books to me, and their descriptions of the books are accurate so I know they really read it (not that it would ever occur to me that they were faking). Now, I'm over 60... so maybe this "pretending to read" thing is generational and has something to do with Instagram culture, where what you can fool people into thinking about you is more important than what you really do?
