The only way to eliminate prostitution is to imprison half the human beings in the world? And yet, prostitution and the value systems that justify it effectively do already imprison half the human beings in the world (the female ones, that is). The definition of women as a valuable commodity for male consumption, with a defined price tag, is what underlies not only prostitution, but date rape, patriarchal marriage law, stoning of “immoral” women, infibulation, confinement in the harem, marital rape, etc etc etc. Surely there is a third way.
